Oct 11, 2025
Kall-Dottel
From the church of St. Antonius in Dottel, the hike leads through the Königsfeld valley, past the Urfey spring area, to the aqueduct bridge near Vollem, the only almost completely preserved bridge of the Roman canal. The route continues along the Roman canal hiking trail to the Roman fountain "Klausbrunnen" near Kallmuth through the village and back to Dottel via Agrippastrasse. Along the way, there is information about the construction history and traces of the third longest long-distance water pipeline of the Roman Empire, which supplied the ancient city of Cologne with 20 million liters of water per day. In addition to the technical masterpiece of the Roman builders, hikers also learn a lot about the magnificent cultural landscape along the hiking trail.
