Lebensquelle Wasser: Die Römische Wasserleitung und moderne Perspektiven
Mar 18, 2025
Nettersheim
The Roman Empire is still known today for its impressive aqueducts and luxurious bathing facilities. Even back then, people knew that access to clean water and sanitary facilities was fundamental. A basic need that we want to achieve today with SDG 6. Together with sign language interpreters, we will take a look at the Roman Eifel water pipeline, which originated in Nettersheim.
We will learn how the Romans managed to transport clean water from the Eifel to the provincial capital of Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium, today's Cologne, and what role the bathing facilities played in the Romans' everyday lives, setting new standards of hygiene that are still worth striving for today.
The event is aimed at deaf people and their companions, friends or family members. The facilitators are accompanied by sign language interpreters so that it is a shared experience for everyone.
