Nettersheim
We walk from the Literaturhaus through the woods on the outskirts of the village and stop off at a pub in Nettersheim at the end. Duration of the hike approx. 5 km.
For a long time the forest was considered scary and the home of robbers, but over 200 years ago the German Romance writers discovered it for themselves, wandered through it, sang about it and described it. In poems, fairy tales and legends, the "German forest" was often charged with national significance, and was even exaggerated as an identity-forming space during National Socialism. Since then, this myth has not remained unquestioned, but continues to have an effect as a place of recreation, threat and irrational longing. Cologne speaker Stephan Schäfer has compiled a colorful mixture of texts from the rich material for his reading walk.
