The increasing use of artificial lighting, especially in the Cities are making the stars fade more and more for us. They have been inspiring for thousands of years Culture and science. In addition, the biorhythm of all living beings, including that of us humans, is adapted to the alternation between day and night. We need the darkness.

Fortunately, North Rhine-Westphalia has an island of Darkness: The starry landscape of the Eifel with the Eifel National Park Star Park. The award "Star Park" is only available to a few areas of the country. which have a particularly starry night sky. In the starry landscape of the Eifel, the Municipalities have adopted guidelines for star-friendly lighting. Also the city Schleiden is one of them. This will also ensure that in the future the view of countless Celestial phenomena.

Stargazes are places to observe the Night sky. They are easy to reach and equipped for astronomical voyages of discovery on your own. Each stargaze is unique and tells its own story around to protect the naturally dark night.
