In this work, the well-known Aachen artist Bonifatius Stirnberg has impressively realised the ideas of the initiator and founder Prof. Dr. R. Fuchs and executed them in his unmistakable style. With a multitude of different individual elements, the fountain makes reference to local and town history as well as to special features of Stolberg. This gives the city guides the opportunity to briefly point out aspects to our guests that are not the subject of the booked tour, but are nevertheless worth a brief mention. Amongst many other things, the dwarf figure of Galminus is part of the richly shaped fountain composition. Dwarves are often associated with medieval and early modern mining and our image of these little fellows is strongly influenced by the working costumes of medieval miners.

However, the Stolberg dwarves are now to be seen against a completely different, much earlier time horizon and reveal a Celtic-Roman origin. As it is very rare (actually never) to see dwarves in the wild, no guided tours are (naturally) offered on this subject. Instead, Stolberg-Touristik offers corresponding lectures for friends and lovers of (folk) mythology. The special features presented also include some motifs that can be described as unique features of the town of Stolberg in today's parlance. A Stolberg coppersmith at the water-driven hammer mill, the well-known appearance of a copper yard (Grünenthal House), typical brass vessels, zinc tubs, press studs and galmei violets are all examples of local specialities that can only be admired here and nowhere else. Following a call for names in the local press and the suggestions received, the term Galminusbrunnen was chosen as the name for the new, attractive work of art at the foot of Stolberg's Alstadt. The term Galminus refers to a dwarf figure that is also part of the richly shaped fountain composition.
