The 8-kilometre Eifelspur Sun, Moon and Stars hike takes you through the Scheckenbach and Schafbach valleys near the national park town of Schleiden. The watercourses are the lifelines of this beautiful landscape. They form the habitat for plants and animals.

A special feature is the crayfish living in the waters here, in particular the noble crayfish. Renaturation measures included ensuring the ecological continuity (passability) of the streams and the removal of conifers from the floodplains.
You can experience a unique variety of flora and fauna in and along the watercourses.

Your hike will be accompanied by the babbling of the stream and birdsong. In the summer months, the damp tall herbaceous meadows attract numerous species of butterflies and dragonflies.
