Eifel-Blick "Burgberg"
Hürtgenwald
Because of its conical form, the 400m high Burgberg appears very noticable. In the 1980s, archaeological findings proofed the existance of the former castle "Reichsburg Berinsteyn" from 1090 to 1198 on this very spot.
The tower "Krawutschketurm" offers a breathtaking view over the valleys of the Eifel, the border of reservoir Obermaubach, Jülich and Cologne. It is named after the hiker Franz Krawutschke.
A hiking trail, offering a special forest experience, passes the tower "Krawutschketurm". It is interesting for children as well as adults to lern new inforamtion on flora and fauna. Enjoy the wooden playground. You can also visit the Krawutsche tower and combine it with a hike on "Heinrich-Böll-Weg" [35] trail: Wanderung auf dem "Heinrich-Böll-Weg" [35].
If you are interested in mountainbiking, there is a circular track of 15km MTB Runde E "Krawutschketour" along Burgbergs and the tower.
